Chris Christie Drops Out

Chris Christie has dropped out of the GOP presidential primary just days ahead of the Iowa caucus, presumingly doing so due to bad polling and hoping to consolidate votes around an anti-Trump candidate. According to a recent study most of Mr Christie's support would turn to Nikki Haley giving her a leg up to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and likely in so doing making her the alternative to Donald J. Trump. Ms Haley has overtaken Mr DeSantis in Iowa and holds a resounding lead over the other non-Trump candidates in New Hampshire. Chris Christie leaving the race may help her continue to gain momentum and grow in the polls.

Another Republican Debate

The 5ith Republican primary debate with only 2 people on stage, Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley with the notable exception of Donald J. Trump that held a Fox News town hall at the same time as the debate. Mr DeSantis and Ms Haley threw jabs at each other, trying to gain the upper hand in becoming the only viable Trump alternative. This did not help either of the candidates who criticised each other heavily whilst avoiding Mr Trump making the former president look good in comparison to the people on the stage.

Supreme Court Ways in on Trump's Viability

After the Colorado Supreme Court decided to take Donald J. Trump off the state primary ballot. Controversy was sparked and the Colorado GOP filed an appeal to the United States Supreme Court and was followed by an appeal by Mr Trump. The Supreme Court agreed to hear the case and will likely give a verdict in the coming months, until then Mr Trump will remain on the ballot.

UK General Election on 14th of November According to George Osborn

George Osborne the former chancellor of the United Kingdom has said that a "little birdie" told him when the Government plans to hold the UK general election, on the 14th of November. Mr Osborne is close to many in Rishi Sunak's inner circle and higher-ups in the Conservative party. Considering the Conservative's current horrific polling it is likely that the Prime Minister would hold a general election later in the year to try to make up the polling gap. An election must be held before January 2025 ends, however, the Tories are unlikely to want to hold an election then due to it being drawn out over the Christmas time, unpopular amongst MPs and voters.
